Rayon Sports has entered a new chapter after confirming a major sponsorship agreement with Bank of Kigali (BK), a move expected to significantly strengthen the club’s financial position ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The announcement comes weeks after SKOL Brewery Ltd revealed that its sponsorship agreement with the club had reached its conclusion in June 2026, sparking widespread debate among supporters about the future of one of Rwanda’s most successful football teams.
Club President Abdallah Murenzi moved quickly to dismiss speculation that Rayon Sports and SKOL had completely parted ways. According to him, discussions between the two sides have continued and a renewed partnership is expected to be announced soon.
While SKOL is set to remain involved with the club, Murenzi confirmed that Bank of Kigali will become Rayon Sports’ principal sponsor and will take the most visible branding position on the team’s playing kit starting next season.
The development marks one of the most significant commercial deals in the club’s recent history. BK’s arrival is expected to provide the financial muscle needed to address challenges that have occasionally affected the club, including salary delays and budgetary pressures.
Club officials believe the partnership will create a more sustainable financial structure and allow the team to plan long-term projects with greater confidence.
Rayon Sports is also preparing to unveil new jerseys that will feature both BK and Jayrutty Investment branding under separate long-term agreements expected to run for five years.
Beyond banking support, the club continues to strengthen relationships with other corporate partners. Telecommunications company Airtel is expected to play a major role in reducing transportation expenses, which currently consume a substantial portion of the club’s annual budget.
Plans are also underway to acquire a new team bus, with Airtel expected to contribute to the project. Club leaders estimate that the company could cover between 30 and 40 percent of the transportation budget in the coming season.
The sponsorship developments arrive at a crucial moment as Rayon Sports prepares for the 2026/27 BK Pro League campaign, scheduled to begin on September 4, 2026, and conclude on May 30, 2027.
For supporters, the BK partnership represents more than a sponsorship agreement. It signals renewed ambition, stronger financial foundations, and a commitment to building a club capable of competing consistently for domestic honors while strengthening its position in regional competitions.
As the new season approaches, optimism is growing that the combination of corporate backing, strategic planning, and improved financial management could help usher in a new era for one of Rwanda’s most celebrated football institutions.
