Muyango Claudine and Kimenyi Yves Begin Legal Separation Proceedings after two years of marriage

Rwandan public figures Muyango Claudine and football goalkeeper Kimenyi Yves appeared before the Gasabo Primary Court on Friday in a case concerning their legal separation.

The hearing was held behind closed doors and lasted only a few minutes, with both Muyango and Kimenyi attending. The judge did not allow other people to enter the courtroom once the proceedings began.

The court appearance comes days after reports emerged suggesting that the couple’s relationship had deteriorated, with speculation on social media that they had already separated.

Hearing held behind closed doors

P. Onika, a YouTube personality who attended the court session, told IGIHE that the proceedings were conducted privately and lasted only a short time.

He said: “It was a very short hearing. They arrived and entered the courtroom, talked for a few minutes, then the judge came in. He stayed for less than five minutes before they left.”

The closed nature of the proceedings means that details of the arguments presented before the court, as well as the specific grounds for the separation, have not been publicly disclosed.

Separation follows two years of marriage

The legal proceedings come two years after Muyango and Kimenyi got married in 2024.

The couple had been in a relationship for five years before their wedding, having started dating in 2019. They welcomed their first child in 2021, before eventually formalising their relationship through marriage.

Their relationship had attracted considerable public attention, particularly because of their prominence in Rwanda’s entertainment and sporting circles.

Muyango and Kimenyi are prominent Rwandan figures

Muyango Claudine rose to prominence through the Miss Rwanda 2019 competition, where she was crowned Miss Photogenic.

Kimenyi Yves is a well-known Rwandan goalkeeper who has represented several leading domestic clubs, including APR FC, Rayon Sports, Kiyovu Sports and AS Kigali. He has also been part of the Rwanda national team, the Amavubi.

Their public profiles have made developments in their private life a subject of significant interest among fans and followers.

Court decision and reasons remain unclear

Although both parties appeared before the Gasabo Primary Court, no detailed information has been publicly released regarding the submissions made by either side or the outcome of Friday’s hearing.

At this stage, the confirmed development is that Muyango and Kimenyi have begun a legal process concerning their separation.

The reasons behind the breakdown of their marriage have not been officially disclosed, making it important to distinguish confirmed court proceedings from speculation circulating on social media.

A closely followed private matter

The case is likely to attract continued public attention because of the couple’s visibility in Rwanda’s sports, entertainment and social-media spaces.

For now, the confirmed information is that Kimenyi Yves and Muyango Claudine appeared before the Gasabo Primary Court on August 14, 2026, in proceedings concerning their legal separation, with the hearing conducted privately.
