A growing public dispute between Ugandan music star Bebe Cool and former Miss Rwanda 2016 Jolly Mutesi has sparked widespread debate across social media platforms in both Rwanda and Uganda, following allegations that the beauty queen was involved in a scheme that allegedly defrauded the singer.
The controversy began when Bebe Cool, whose real name is Moses Ssali, published a series of posts on X claiming that Jolly Mutesi had deceived him last year while allegedly using Rwanda’s name and connections to English Premier League club Arsenal.
According to the singer, he was misled through conversations that led him to believe he was dealing with a legitimate opportunity connected to Rwanda and Arsenal. In his initial statement, he claimed that Mutesi was behind the arrangement and suggested that she was preparing another operation targeting additional victims.
The accusations quickly gained traction online, with many users questioning how such an alleged scheme could have unfolded and whether the person involved was genuinely Mutesi or someone impersonating her.
Jolly Mutesi swiftly rejected the allegations, arguing that Bebe Cool may have been targeted by individuals pretending to be her. She urged the singer to verify information carefully before making public accusations that could damage another person’s reputation.
Speaking publicly after the allegations surfaced, Mutesi maintained that she had no knowledge of the incident and suspected that fraudsters may have used her identity on social media platforms, particularly Facebook.
Rather than backing down, Bebe Cool intensified his campaign by publishing what he described as evidence supporting his claims. Among the materials he shared was a phone number he alleged was linked to Mutesi. He further claimed to possess additional information and insisted that other individuals had experienced similar situations.
The singer also alleged that money transfers were facilitated through contacts in Uganda and said conversations between him and the person he believed to be Mutesi were known to members of his family because they allegedly revolved around the football career of his son.
Despite the increasingly public nature of the dispute, no independent authority has yet verified the claims made by either side. There has also been no public confirmation regarding the amount of money allegedly lost or the exact nature of the promises that were supposedly connected to Arsenal.
The dispute has become one of the most talked-about entertainment stories in the region because it involves two high-profile public figures with strong followings. Supporters of Bebe Cool argue that he would be unlikely to make such serious allegations without evidence, while others insist that accusations of fraud should be backed by independently verified facts before conclusions are drawn.
