Rwamagana Wedding Cancelled After Groom Was Caught Cheating

Residents and church members in Rwamagana were left stunned after a highly anticipated wedding ceremony was suddenly cancelled following allegations of infidelity involving the groom-to-be.

The young man, known within Church on the Rock as a gospel singer, had reportedly been preparing for marriage for several months. Family members, friends, and supporters had already contributed financially toward the ceremony, while wedding preparations were well underway.

The wedding had initially been scheduled for December 20, 2020, but was postponed because of COVID-19 prevention measures that were in place at the time.

However, events took a dramatic turn on January 13, 2021, when the bride allegedly became concerned after repeatedly failing to reach her fiancé by phone. She reportedly decided to visit his residence personally to check on him.

According to accounts shared later, the woman arrived at the house and found her fiancé inside with another woman in what she considered a compromising situation. Shocked by the discovery, she allegedly used her phone to take photographs before leaving immediately.

She then reportedly went directly to inform the pastor who was expected to officiate the wedding ceremony, asking for the entire wedding process to be halted.

In the days and weeks that followed, confusion spread among contributors and invited guests who had not yet understood why the wedding had suddenly disappeared from discussion.

The young man later addressed the issue through a WhatsApp group that had been created to organize wedding support and contributions.

In his message, he apologized to everyone involved and admitted responsibility for the collapse of the marriage plans. He also explained why he had avoided collecting financial contributions from some supporters after the incident became public.

Pastor Umulisa Fred later confirmed that the bride had informed him about the incident and claimed to possess photographic evidence, although she reportedly never showed the images to church leadership.

The pastor also said he contacted the groom afterward, and the young man admitted what had happened. Attempts were reportedly made to reconcile the couple, but the bride insisted that the wedding should be permanently cancelled.

The incident sparked widespread discussion among many people about trust, faithfulness, and honesty in relationships, especially before marriage.

Many observers said the story serves as a reminder that a relationship built without transparency can collapse unexpectedly, even after months of preparation and public celebration plans.
