A bitter public fallout has erupted between Rwandan singer Uworizagwira Florien, widely known as Yampano, and his girlfriend Vava, with both sides leveling serious accusations against each other ranging from physical abuse and intimidation to pregnancy termination claims and theft.
The controversy gained traction after Vava appeared in a live TikTok conversation with content creator GodFather, where she accused the musician of violently attacking her and intentionally hitting her with a car.
During the livestream, Vava displayed photos and videos showing injuries on her nose and bandages covering parts of her body. She also shared clips allegedly showing Yampano using drugs.
According to Vava, the conflict escalated on March 24, 2026 while the couple was driving to a Sauna together. She said she advised Yampano to stop using his phone while driving, a comment that reportedly angered him.
She explained that Yampano stopped the vehicle in the middle of the road and ordered her out of the car. After leaving, she boarded a motorcycle taxi, believing the situation had ended peacefully.
However, she claimed the artist later followed them at high speed before crashing into the motorcycle.
In her words: “He stopped the car in the middle of the road, not even near a parking sign, and forced me out. I took a motorcycle taxi, but after wearing my helmet and looking back, I saw him following us. I thought he wanted me to return to the car, but instead he accelerated and hit us.”
The allegations quickly spread across social media, triggering intense reactions from fans and online commentators.
Yampano later responded through his own videos, saying his relationship with Vava had become emotionally exhausting and destructive. He accused her of turning his family and friends against him.
He said: “Imagine someone reaching a point where they make your own parents dislike you. I eventually accepted it and told myself that parents are not the ones building my future. If I miss them, I can always visit them at home.”
The singer also linked the deterioration of their relationship to the leaking of intimate videos involving the couple. According to him, the incident permanently damaged trust between them.
“She completely lost respect for me. The leaked videos became an excuse for controlling me and threatening to have me arrested whenever we disagreed,” he said.
Yampano denied claims that they were constantly physically fighting, insisting that most of their disagreements involved arguments and shouting rather than violence.
He also recalled another confrontation that happened after returning late from a performance at a nightclub. According to him, work-related issues delayed him until around 3 a.m., and he had not called Vava during that time.
When he eventually returned home, he said he found her furious, leading him to leave the house again and spend the night elsewhere in Rebero.
The singer added that a neighbor later contacted him claiming that furniture and household items were being removed from the residence. Yampano accused Vava of taking valuables including decorative items, chairs, beds and other belongings.
He further revealed that he had once hoped to build a future with her as husband and wife, but now feels the relationship destroyed his privacy and personal life.
“From the moment Vava entered my life, everything became public. My secrets, my private life, even the way I work somehow ended up outside,” he said.
Yampano also accused Vava of terminating three pregnancies he allegedly fathered, saying the experience deeply hurt him emotionally and weakened their relationship even further.
The scandal continues to dominate conversations on social media, with some users condemning alleged violence against women while others argue that both sides contributed to turning their private relationship into a public spectacle. Many observers are now calling for authorities to investigate the accusations made by both parties, especially the claims involving assault, intimidation and the alleged vehicle attack.
