Rwandan social media personality Kwizera Emelyne has once again become a major topic online after publicly sharing how her life changed following her decision to accept Jesus Christ and get baptized.
In a video message shared with her followers on May 21, 2026, Emelyne spoke openly about her troubled past, revealing that she once struggled with several destructive behaviors including sexual immorality, alcohol abuse and drug addiction before turning to Christianity.
She explained that her previous lifestyle had distanced her from God and pushed her into habits that negatively affected both her personal life and future.
Speaking candidly about her transformation, she said: “Before I got saved, I was trapped in many sins. I lived in sexual immorality, alcohol, drugs, drunkenness and many other things. But Christ changed my life. Today I am a new creation, a child of God and an heir to Heaven.”
Her testimony quickly spread across social media platforms, where many people expressed support for what they described as a remarkable transformation, while others revisited the controversies that once made her one of the most talked-about young women online in Rwanda.
Beyond telling her personal story, Emelyne also used the opportunity to encourage people still struggling with addiction and other harmful lifestyles. She stressed that no situation is impossible to overcome through faith.
She stated: “I want to tell people who are not yet saved that whether you are struggling with drugs, sexual immorality, alcoholism, masturbation or homosexuality, Christ is able to change all of that. He transforms a person’s life in ways they cannot even explain.”
Her remarks immediately sparked debate online. Some social media users praised her courage and said her testimony could inspire young people battling addiction and reckless lifestyles, while others said they were waiting to see whether she would remain committed to her new path.
Kwizera Emelyne first drew widespread public attention after controversial videos involving her and other young women surfaced online. Authorities later reportedly tested them and found evidence of drug use, leading to their transfer to a rehabilitation center in Huye for behavioral reform and counseling.
At the time, the incident generated intense discussion across Rwanda’s online community, with many people raising concerns about increasing drug abuse and moral decline among sections of the youth.
Following that difficult chapter, Emelyne surprised many people by publicly getting baptized in a church ceremony and declaring that Jesus Christ had completely transformed her life.
She also emphasized that she has no intention of returning to her former lifestyle. Her testimony continues to attract strong reactions online, especially among young followers on social media, where many say her story reflects the possibility of change and redemption regardless of one’s past.
