Europe’s biggest clubs are entering a decisive phase of the summer transfer market, with several blockbuster negotiations gathering momentum. Manchester City, Barcelona, Arsenal and Manchester United are among the clubs shaping the headlines as they prepare for another fiercely competitive season.
Rodri’s reported preference for Barcelona over Real Madrid has become one of the market’s biggest talking points, while Arsenal and Manchester United have emerged as direct rivals in the pursuit of one of Italy’s most promising young strikers.
Manchester City have turned down Barcelona’s initial offer for Rodri after concluding that the proposal fell well below their valuation of the Spanish midfielder.
Barcelona are believed to be preparing an opening bid worth around £38 million, but City have made it clear that such an amount is insufficient for one of the club’s most influential players despite the fact that he has only ten months remaining on his current contract.
Sources close to the negotiations indicate that City would only consider negotiations if Rodri formally informs the club that he wants to leave. Even then, the Premier League champions are expected to demand more than £60 million before sanctioning a transfer.
The situation became even more significant after Rodri’s representative publicly explained the player’s position regarding interest from Spain’s two biggest clubs.
He said: “Out of respect for Madrid – as they have been class – Rodri has informed them his decision is to join Barca.”
Those comments suggest that Barcelona has become Rodri’s preferred destination despite Real Madrid’s long-standing admiration for the former Ballon d’Or winner.
Manchester City’s approach to transfers has traditionally been consistent. Club officials have repeatedly maintained that they will not force an unhappy player to stay if his desire to leave is clear.

The scouting reports are understood to have reached both Mikel Arteta and Michael Carrick, reinforcing interest in a striker valued by Inter at approximately £73 million.

Gabriel Martinelli’s future has also become increasingly uncertain after reports linked him with Turkish champions Galatasaray.

The 19-year-old impressed during Spain’s successful Under-19 European Championship campaign after helping Racing Santander secure promotion with six assists in 33 league appearances.
Club scouts reportedly believe Salinas possesses the technical and tactical maturity to compete immediately at first-team level.

The Colombian prospect revealed that visiting Carrington last year convinced him he was joining the right club.
Reflecting on his first impressions, Orozco said: “I visited the city and everything was very nice. I was able to see the stadium, the team’s training ground and honestly I’m fulfilling a childhood dream.”
He also highlighted his determination to adapt quickly.
“My expectation from now on is to learn a lot of English. I realised that it’s very important and I want to arrive there, learn and adapt as quickly as possible.”
Discussing his qualities, he added: “I know my strengths are my physicality and my technique.” Before concluding: “But everything is about adapting. I’m very young and that’s what I’ll need to do.”
